MLM means Multi-Level Marketing. It has many other names like Network marketing, direct selling, referral marketing and pyramid selling. MLM is a marketing strategy used by some companies. The marketing structure creates a sales force by giving commission to promoters of the company’s products, for the sales they generate and sales of other promoters they introduce to the company. This creates a down line of distributors/promoters and a hierarchy of many compensation levels in a pyramid form. The company products are marketed directly to consumers and potential business partners by relationship referrals and word of mouth marketing. I am sure you have heard of some these MLM Companies, people worldwide know about them: Avon, Oriflame, Kleeneze, Amway Global (Quixtar) etc.

MLM Success is highly dependent on marketing and how you do it. When you become distributor for a MLM company, much of your success depends on your marketing skills and techniques. Without that, you incur huge losses. Actually many new MLM marketers never actually receive marketing training. Marketing is promoting yourself or your business to the right group of people, who are looking for what you have to offer. Many network marketers are told to talk to create a list of 100 names and talk to each one of them. This is often a waste their time because the people are not interested in what they have to offer. This approach will lead to few sales and discouragement often to the point the that distributor will drop out of the business opportunity. So training is very important as guidance on how to do marketing of your business or products in a successful way.

Most MLM companies tell you that you need to train your teams but do very little to show you are teach you how to do this. They leave this up to individual distributors and since so many do not have expertise in this very few are successful. This is one of the largest contributors to why only 3% of network marketers ever make any money and even less obtain a level that allows them to do the business full time. As you can see, without good training, your business will be doomed to failure.

When you first enroll in most MLM businesses you will told by your upline that they will train you and all you have to do is follow them. The truth is, if they are indeed successful, which most of them are not, what they do is often not duplicatable to most people so the training that they offer has little or no value to you. One classic example of this is a high energy sales person that just lights up the room when they walk in. Often these people can enroll lots of distributors just from their energy but since what they do is not your style or personality, what they teach you on how to enroll people has little or no value to what you can do.

This is the brick wall that most MLM marketers face when they get in the industry. If however you are able to plug up with a team that will give you step by step instructions of how you can market and in turn teach your own team to market that would yield a different result. You have to understand that the average network marketer only stays in their business for 63 days. If you however can get a check in their had before that 63 days you have demonstrated to them that they can make money and they will stay in the business much longer. It is therefore crucial that you work with your new team members to allow them to make some money a quickly as possible to help them gain momentum on their business and to keep them in the business for the long run.

Just because your upline does not have the required training does not mean you cannot be successful. There are some third party training systems that will teach you and your team what you need to grow your business. There may be nothing wrong with the actual company or its compensation plan. That is only one ingredient but with the right training you can explode your business.

I have been doing multi level marketing off and on for over 15 years. About 8 months ago I got back in the business. I spent several months trying to grow my business the way that my upline taught me but just was not very successful with it. Well I guess that is an understatement. I never signed up a single person. I then discovered an online marketing system that really changed my whole way of thinking. Now the marketing system is great but that is not what I want to talk about. What I did not anticipate was that my biggest obstacle to success was my own mindset.

Part of this marketing system is education and teamwork. In that teamwork and training I came to realize that I was my own worst enemy. As I became more educated about marketing and the psychology of marketing, the psychology of asking and the art of closing, I realized that I was sabotaging my own work. Wow what a shocker that was to learn. Well as I have changed the way I think, there is one key thing I learned that I felt others could learn from so they did not go through the same struggles I have.

Negative thinking will only get you no’s and attract negative thinking people. Positive thinking will get you what you focus on and attract positive people. I have read so many books on this and listened to so many CD’s that it began to soak into my head what the power of positive thinking was all about. I am not a psychologist that can tell you how all this works but what I can say that I finally got it. I finally realized what so many had been saying. What you don’t realize is how we have all been programmed for years by the educational system, through TV, radio and the news. We are a negative thinking society. You have to reprogram your mind from years of bad thinking. It is just not an easy task and for some may takes years to attain.

When I look back I am not sure why it took me thousands of dollars of coaching, books and CD’s to finally get it. I also will not tell you that I am always positive but I have made huge strides in changing my mindset which is changing my wallet each day. If you have a negative mindset you are most likely only holding yourself back. Don’t do that to yourself. Make up your mind right now that you will change.

A book by Bruce Lipton called “The Biology of Belief”. I also highly recommend Jeffery Combs and Cedrick Harris both of whom I hired as coaches in my walk to understanding this about myself.

I am continueing my video series on things that people do or do not do that cause them to fail in network marketing. Today I am talking about growing yourself and improving yourself. This so very important. This is one of the one of the biggest reason that people do not succeed. They do not take the time to change themselves into the person that great network marketer. Listen to other great marketers and do what they do. You want to be a millionaire then do what millionaires do and your chances are going to be much higher. If you keep doing what your doing your are going to keep getting what you already have. So change and do it in the right direction. Do what others that have proved themselves in this industry. Do not listen to your broke friends. Focus on you and change your life. You will be glade you did.

I was reminded today by an email that I received that so many people are set in there ways about how to market their business. They are stuck in a skeptical mindset that has them stuck and they struggle with how to change.  Typically it is they only know what they have been modeled and so they do what they have seen their upline do. Where this is an issues is when a really good idea comes along they often can miss the benefits from that idea because they do not see how it applies to them in the business they are involved they ignore it.

When it comes to online marketing, it does not matter what business you are in because it is all about relationships that are formed because people to business with other people, not with companies. When a person is a true leader the people and the relationships that they have with those people is all that matters.  I never had seen this demonstrated more than with what happend this past week.

When a group of leaders had a vision for building a large downline fast that would create a residual income for years to come. They communicated to a handful of other leaders what the wanted to do and in 48 hours had over 2000 people register for a conference call to hear what they had to say. Wow….. Leadership.  Attraction marketing personified.

Don’t let yourself get stuck in a rut doing things the old ways. Develop a relationship with a leader you trust and change your mindset to one of optimism and you will be amazed how different it can be for you.  Do you want to change your life. Went to a training class put on by MLMLeadSystemPro and this weeks topic was by Jeffery Combs where he talks about the 4 primary personality types and how to sell to them and how to recruit them into your business. It was really good stuff.  I purchased his Animal Factor CD set and have been listening to them.  There are a lot of similarities to Meyers-Briggs things I have learned in the past but Jeff’s stuff is specifically about marketing and selling to different personalities.

Good stuff.  I would highly recommend it. The Animal Factor is the name of the CD set. His company is Golden Mastermind Seminars.
