It has been a while since I have talked about Twitter but when I recently went over 70,000 followers I thought it was time to talk about it once again. Several months ago I created training videos of how I built my Twitter engine and put them on my blog. Over time many have asked how I do it and I tell them I am still doing it the same way I documented on my blog and I am here telling you again that I am doing it the same way. I am adding about 1,000 followers a day now. A little less during the week and more on the weekends.
Having followers is great but it does not mean much unless you can monetize the traffic. That is the real key. I do this in a number of ways. One is that I send traffic to some of my affiliate links but not many, most of the value comes from when people opt in to my list and I have an opportunity to establish a longer relationship with them. I have to say often it is a one way conversation because people do not leave their phone number but that does not mean a relationship is not being formed. As an example I will tell you about a conference I was at in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. I had three people come up to me and say Hi Bob, I have been following you on Twitter and seen your video’s. I did not know any of these people but they knew me and they wanted to let me know. A relationship is formed even if it is one way. This is what you call Attraction Marketing.
Make sure that when you use Twitter you add value more than you send someone to your web page or affiliate link. That is how you build a large following. Keep this in mind and be consistent and you can build one too.
