Twitter Marketing: 8 Simple Steps to Follow

by Bob on December 20, 2009

Twitter is a free social networking site. It enables its users to do micro-blogging wherein users can send and read messages known as “tweets” from other users. Tweets are posts which can be displayed on the author’s profile page and are visible to the author’s subscribers who are the termed as followers. That is why the thought of having a big number of followers is good for it means many will be aware of the service and or product that someone is promoting through tweets. Thus, Twitter is considered to be a good tool when it comes to social media marketing.

On the other hand, it is a fact that simply having high number of follower on Twitter doesn’t matter on one’s business. So why is twitter considered to be a good tool to be used in marketing? Well, it is considered to be a good tool if you have high followers and these followers are people who are in line or have interest to the service or product you are promoting. Yes, your followers have to be your target market. You can have a lot of followers but if they are untargeted, they do not matter at all.

So what is the best way to find targeted people on Twitter? You can simply look at your competitors profile and see the way they market. After that, look at the people who are on their followers. What is the significance? Well, if those people are following that particular person who is in the same market as you, chances are they are the target people you are looking for. So, the next thing you have to do is to follow them.

At this point, I assume you already got the logic of what I had explained above. And for you to know more of the step by step process to build your Twitter follower count, read on.

  1. Create your profile. It has to be a professional one.
  2. Know the people who are in the same market as you or in other words your competitors.
  3. Visit the profile of that particular person who is in the same market as you.
  4. Click on his followers. After a couple of days, you will notice that the people you follow from his account are also following you.
  5. Next thing to do is to unfollow people who do not follow you back. This is for you to follow more potential people who will follow you back.
  6. Remember to post tweets that would capture your followers’ interest.
  7. And if time comes that you already established your profile, it is now time for you to promote your business and link back your followers to your desire page.
  8. Then, just repeat the routine and remember to be constant in attending your Twitter account for you not to be forgotten.

The steps are just simple to understand. So if you are able to master it, then it is no wonder that you’ll be getting a large number of followers who are also your target people. Isn’t it a good thing? And again, be constant when it comes to managing your account.
